Vocational Education and Training

Students may commence a VET Course in Year 10 via either an Applied Learning pathway or a standard curriculum. In Years 11 & 12, a VET course can be undertaken in VCE but it is better suited to the VCE – Vocational Major course rather than the standard VCE. VET courses are offered both at the College and through a variety of outside providers. Students who commence training whilst in Year 10 can often reduce the training requirements of an apprenticeship once they leave school. Internal College based VET programs attract a small administration fee, whilst external provider costs will vary, depending on the course.

Some VET in VCE or VET in VCE-VM or accelerated Pathway Programs normally run as ‘Block Release’ each Monday, Wednesday or Friday: days to be confirmed depending upon timetable and availability. There are fundamental differences between the two Pathway Programs and our students should be fully aware of the structural differences, assessment requirements and subsequent results obtained, and the effect on normal studies at school.
